بتول‭ ‬لملّح‭ ‬

Batoul expressed her love for nature and adventures, and her desire that Ein Qiniya preserves its green hills and fields; thus, caring for nature and agricultural spaces were among the themes she focused on while sketching the imagined masterplan. She also focused on creating spaces for children to play and learn freely, including gardens, parks, and several sports playgrounds. She imagined a space inside her house where she would leave wilderness untouched, pointing to that she finds contact with nature fundamental for a healthy upbringing of children. Batoul considers the expansion of the school as a necessity, as well as creating a kindergarten, and women’s associations. She pictured eating-out possibilities (kiosks, café, restaurant), public transportation, basic services and supplies shops. She wishes that housing and agricultural activities could remain integrated, and that the stretch of Wadi alDilb is preserved as a public park with pools and services. She said: “I wish I could live in the mansion of the Janayen, up there alone, just for one day, I wish! Since it is an elevated area, one feels as if flying like a bird… We dreamt, now we want to implement… Can you imagine the heights of this happiness?”

عبّرت‭ ‬بتول‭ ‬عن‭ ‬حبها‭ ‬للطبيعة‭ ‬والمغامرات‭ ‬ورغبتها‭ ‬بأن‭ ‬تحافظ‭ ‬عين‭ ‬قينيا‭ ‬على‭ ‬هضابها‭ ‬وسهولها‭ ‬الخضراء،‭ ‬فكانت‭ ‬العناية‭ ‬بالطبيعة‭ ‬والمساحات‭ ‬الزراعية‭ ‬من‭ ‬موضوعات‭ ‬التركيز‭ ‬خلال‭ ‬تخيّل‭ ‬المخطط‭ ‬الهيكلي‭. ‬كما‭ ‬وركّزت‭ ‬على‭ ‬خلق‭ ‬مساحات‭ ‬للأطفال‭ ‬من‭ ‬أجل‭ ‬اللعب‭ ‬والتعلم‭ ‬بحرية،‭ ‬منها‭ ‬حدائق‭ ‬ومتنزهات‭ ‬وعدة‭ ‬ملاعب‭ ‬رياضية؛‭ ‬حتى‭ ‬أنها‭ ‬تخيلت‭ ‬مساحة‭ ‬ذات‭ ‬طابع‭ ‬بري‭ ‬داخل‭ ‬منزلها،‭ ‬مؤكدة‭ ‬على‭ ‬أهمية‭ ‬العلاقة‭ ‬مع‭ ‬الطبيعة‭ ‬من‭ ‬أجل‭ ‬نمو‭ ‬سليم‭ ‬للأطفال‭. ‬ترى‭ ‬بتول‭ ‬أن‭ ‬توسيع‭ ‬المدرسة‭ ‬ضرورة‭ ‬وكذلك‭ ‬إنشاء‭ ‬روضة،‭ ‬وجمعيّة‭ ‬نسائية‭. ‬كما‭ ‬تصوّرت‭ ‬توفر‭ ‬أماكن‭ ‬لتناول‭ ‬الطعام (‬أكشاك،‭ ‬مقهى،‭ ‬مطعم)‬،‭ ‬ومواصلات‭ ‬عامة،‭ ‬وخدمات‭ ‬أساسية‭ ‬ومحلات‭ ‬لبيع‭ ‬المستلزمات‭. ‬تودّ‭ ‬بتول‭ ‬لو‭ ‬تظل‭ ‬الأنشطة‭ ‬والمساحات‭ ‬السكنية‭ ‬والزراعية‭ ‬على‭ ‬ترابط،‭ ‬واقترحت‭ ‬الحفاظ‭ ‬على‭ ‬امتداد‭ ‬وادي‭ ‬الدلب‭ ‬كمتنزه‭ ‬عام‭ ‬يحوي‭ ‬مسابح‭ ‬وخدمات‭. ‬"أمنيتي‭ ‬لو‭ ‬بقدر‭ ‬أعيش‭ ‬فوق‭ ‬بالقصر‭ ‬تاع‭ ‬الجناين‭ ‬لحالي،‭ ‬بس‭ ‬لو‭ ‬يوم‭ ‬واحد‭ ‬يا‭ ‬ريت‭! ‬عشانها‭ ‬منطقة‭ ‬عالية‭ ‬بتحسّي‭ ‬حالِك‭ ‬طايرة‭ ‬في‭ ‬السما‭ ‬كإنّك‭ ‬عصفورة‭ ‬إحنا‭ ‬هي‭ ‬حلِمْنا،‭ ‬هَسّا‭ ‬بدنا‭ ‬إنّفذة‭ ‬إنتي‭ ‬متخيّلة‭ ‬قِمّة‭ ‬السعادة‭ ‬هاي؟"

Process: sketching the imaginations of the Narrator (contributor) on tracing paper atop an aerial image (2019-2020). Later watercolor icons were produced by Yara Bamieh, that were digitally assembled by Mai alBattat (2020-2022). Basel Naser assisted in the visual and artistic production.
