Najat Nasr alDeen (Um Mamdouh)

Najat expressed her preference for detached houses over apartment buildings, especially when constructed in compact and overcrowded manners and have no balconies. She was clear that she does not mind urbanization, on the contrary, she loves it. She moved the school building, proposed a kindergarten, a sports club for men, a women’s center in Hosh Al L’malah next to which she proposed other services such as a general medicine clinic with a pharmacy among others. One of the inspiring stories that Najat told was her story with the tajweed teacher who combined it with literacy lessons, and who encouraged them to engage with public spaces including outside of the village, to take part in regional competitions, and to teach others in the village. She said: “The Sheikhah used to tell us that when you meet, you women can do projects in the village. Agree among yourselves to do some projects and never mind what people say, let people see what you do and then they will also encourage you.” On her masterplan, Najat placed a bakery cooperative project that she and a friend of hers have long thought of.
